AA Sports International, a non-profit sports organisation focused on developing young talents to excel in football, has been launched in Accra.
Owned by former Ghanaian footballer, Mark Adu Amofah, the organization aims to guide underprivileged talents to excel through sports and education.
With the slogan ‘Sports Equality for All Children,’ AA Sports is set to develop talents and also create a platform for less privileged children in society to find a career path.
At its launch on Wednesday, the Chief of Ashaiman, Nii Annang Adzor II, praised Mr Amofah for the initiative which he said would give hope to children in the community and beyond. Nii Adzor II said there were many talents in the Ashaiman Municipality that need the support of the organization to be nurtured. “We are proud to witness the launch. We are calling on all stakeholders to come on board to support the organization to develop the children to have an impact on national development.”
The Founder of AA Sports International, Mr. Adu Amofah, said he was committed to changing lives through sports, hence the need to set up the organization.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player and US Army veteran said football had impacted positively on his life and would endeavor to give similar opportunities to young people within Ashaiman and beyond.
“My football journey has taken me out of poverty and changed my life. It is also important to give back to society by giving youngsters with similar talents the opportunities to make their dreams become a reality through AA Sports,” he stated.
“We would provide an avenue where youngsters can play football without giving up on education with the necessary resources and guidance for them to excel,” he explained.
The Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), who doubles as AA Sports Patron, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, commended Mr. Amofah for his ambition to create opportunities for deprived kids in society.
“Every child deserves the best and with AA Sports International, they would not only focus on the players’ active days but their lives after the game,” he stressed.
On his part, the former Ghana Football Association Vice President, Mr. Fred Pappoe, said there were useful lessons that could be learned from Mr Amofah’s journey, most importantly giving back to society.
“Let’s all come together to support this initiative to blossom for the growth of Ghana football and the country at large,” he said.
